DESCRIPTION:Regional Expert Forum on Population Ageing\nDate: 12 – 13 Jul 2016\nLocation: Bangkok\, Thailand \n \nThe Regional Expert Forum on Population Ageing will be held on 12-13 July 2016 in the United Nations Conference Center\, Bangkok. It is expected to be attended by Government focal points on population ageing\, policy-makers\, development practitioners\, independent experts\, and civil society experts working in the area of population ageing. \nThe objectives of the Forum are as follows: \n(1) To review and share good practices in addressing the long-term care needs of older persons in the region and consider policies to formulate a comprehensive framework for long-term care of older persons in the region; \n(2) To increase awareness on the key challenges and opportunities for effectively addressing population ageing and promoting the rights of older persons in the Asia- Pacific region in the context of the forthcoming Third Regional Review of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing; \n(3) To agree on a strategy to assess progress at regional and country level on the implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA)\, including proposing concrete follow-up actions within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConcept note and tentative programme can be found on UNESCAP webpage.
