1 October 2014 – Hanoi, Vietnam

The Vietnam Elderly Association in association with the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Television, and the Vietnam Communications Corporation on September 29th held an art exchange to raise fund for the program “Bright eyes for the elderly”, in the presence of Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

The two-year program spent over VND 339 billion to provide eye check-ups and consultancy for over 2.2 million people. Among them, nearly 300,000 with cataract underwent free surgeries.

The money was raised by the elderly associations and Red Cross societies at all levels and many ministries and domestic and international sponsors.

The event was to honor contributions of individuals and charity groups throughout the country to the program.
