This is summary of the study commissioned by HelpAge International. The objective of the study was to explore the intersection between age and disability and the use of assistive technology (AT) by older people in both emergency response and as a tool for disaster risk reduction (DRR). Understanding older people’s experiences in relation to AT is essential to inform better programme planning, frameworks and policies, both organisationally within HelpAge International and across the wider humanitarian sector. Based on the findings of both primary and secondary research, this report offers recommendations for both HelpAge International and global humanitarian response.
