This report draws on focus group discussions, expert opinions and network project experience to argue how our cities need to change to protect and promote the rights of older people living in urban environments. The report includes recommendations for governments, city authorities and other stakeholders and civil society actors.
The report focuses on three areas – urban space, health and security. It argues that we need to reclaim urban spaces by reducing hostile traffic and pollution to create inviting and pleasant streets, encourage healthy ageing by combating NCDs, pollution and supporting people with dementia, and improve safety and security, both day to day in terms of crime as well as during times of crisis and displacement.
