The global population is ageing. Asia is at the forefront of this phenomenon. The demand of care for older people are rising. Here comes a question “who will take care of these older people?”
In January 2015, HelpAge East Asia and Pacific organised a regional workshop entitled “Community-based social care: What is the role of the State?” with support from the European Union. The workshop aimed to stimulate discussion on the role of governments in promoting community-based care for older people, with an emphasis on social care. 75 experts from 12 countries came together to discuss strategies and translate the concept into practice.
